Take a sneak peek around this presenting artist and member of the Sonoran Art League of Cave Creek.  Here is what Ruthann Beeler-Sturgill, has to say;

‘What started out as a simple, pleasurable past-time as become an amazing, all-consuming passion!’

As true with many artists, I have painted numerous works in various mediums, but my favorite medium is oils. Painting realism in the comfort of my studio, I create life-like portraits and still life, while I paint most of my landscapes on location, ‘en plein air’. Having always had a great love for the outdoors, it’s a winning combination of getting to create art while soaking up the ever-changing ambiance that nature so freely offers; be it sunshine, clouds, fog, snow or rain, along with battling other elements such as bugs, animals and pesky critters that are a big part of the total experience.

Even though I have traveled across the U.S. and Canada teaching painting workshops and studied under notable artists such as Robert Bateman, Tom Lucas, Guy Combes, Daniel Greene and at the Scottsdale Artist School along with Liliedahl School of Fine Art in Houston, where I earned certification in landscape and still life, it shows my passion for learning and sharing that passion, but I will forever be a student, constantly learning.

My work can be found in many private, as well as corporate collections. Several of my original designed and hand painted ornaments are part of the permanent collection of The White House, and the Governor of Ohio’s residence. In 2014, I completed my first public mural, 8’ high by 60’ long with 30 life size portraits which is permanently installed in downtown Lima, OH. The second one was installed May of this year at The Meeting Place on Market, also in downtown Lima. I just returned from Botkins, OH where I painted my first on location public mural, 14 x 28’ on the historical grocer building.

I am a co-founder of The Potpourri of Painter’s Society, the founder and former executive director of The Visual Arts Network. I have served as VP of the Ohio Plein Air Society and served for a number of years on the exhibition committee of ArtSpace Lima along with being the director of exhibit installation in the Ellen Nelson Gallery. I am currently a member of the Sonoran Art League in Cave Creek, AZ.

Having traveled to the western US for the first time in 2009 and fallen in love with the landscape, I made the move to Black Canyon City, Arizona in January 2016 and am excited to capture ‘intimate portraits of ‘life and land’ of the west.  Canyon West Studio and Gallery 419-516- 3996 artistbeeler@gmail.com
